I liked the connection that Sir Ken Robinson made with fast food restaurants and modern education. No matter what part of the country you travel to if you order Chicken McNuggets and French fries from McDonald's you pretty much have a an idea as to what your going taste. That's because all of the franchises have a standardized way creating their product. Education has drastically changed in just the last few years and many of us learned what areas could be improved. Many people like to stick to the whole Ïf it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. But the fact is, our education system is broken. Sir Ken Robinson made the comparison of adults wearing a watch and younger people deciding not to wear one. His reason being that younger people choosing not to wear one is that a watch only serves one function, telling time. As compared to a phone which has everything you could need at the palm of your hand. Can't this be said about modern education as well? If you are a teacher more than likely you aren't teaching your students the same way that you learned 20-30 years ago.

Another thing that really resonated with me from Sir Ken Robinson's lecture was the importance of feeding your passion. I myself left the classroom this past school year along with 5 educators that I know personally. One left for family reasons, however the five left out of the six pretty much had the same reasons. Finding your passion is truly important. As mentioned in Daniel Pink's video, drive and inspiration to work harder doesn't necessarily coincide with increase in pay, bonuses, or a jeans pass. It derives from people truly enjoying what they are doing.
