Strategy for Influence

In the All Washed Up video I saw how important influence can be to inspiring change. This is something I am reminded of as a teacher. If I want students to exhibit appropriate behaviors, I have to model them myself. If I don't buy in to my own ideas, why should they? I believe peer influence is a big part in influencing change. When others who aren't convinced of taking part in the action see that their peers have bought in or considered, they too begin to be a little more open to the idea. One of the points that I resonated with in the video was ditching the original plan because it did not work. This is something that I am guilty of doing myself with many aspects of my life. If I see something isn't working right away, I tend to panic and consider stopping. This is also something I struggled with during the summer when I began the ADL program. I had a hard time getting started and almost quit within the first two weeks. However, adopting the growth mindset, I feel as if I have found that I am more capable of what I thought I was.
