Academic Yearbooks: A Case for E-Portfolios
Proposal:
Technology has provided us with many opportunities as of late. More recently we have seen a rise in the use of social media. Social media users continue to showcase their lives through pictures and videos on the internet. Before social media was a large part of our society, people could turn to their old yearbooks to reminisce about their memories from school. However, what isn’t documented in yearbooks is what skills students have learned and how they have shown growth from year to year. Through the use of e-portfolios, students would be able to showcase their skills through uploading projects, assignments, and reflections. In order to continue to provide opportunities for students to take ownership and have their own voice in their learning, educators must provide more freedom for students to present their own learning.
